Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested 23 out of 148 returnees who escaped from quarantine centers across the country as the hunt continues.
In a published statement issued on Friday ZRP said, “We are urging the public to report all suspected escapees who might have joined communities without following/completing the COVID 19 screening process designed for returnees by the Government.
Information may be passed to the COVID 19 information centre on the telephone.”
On Thursday ZBC reported that some returnees had escaped from Mkoba Teacher’s College Covid-19 Quarantine Centre amid indications that some of them are ex-convicts returning home from South Africa.
The government has since confirmed the number of returnees who have escaped from the quarantine centre, with Secretary for Information Mr Nick Mangwana revealing that those who have escaped include 15 men, three women and a minor.
