Zimbabwe Republic Police’s support unit has arrested Mthwakazi Republic Party officials over Pick n Pay protest, which was staged on Thursday.
The arrested are national Youth Chairperson Xolani Ncube who is also Pumula Constituency’ Parliamentary Candidate, Partone Xaba the party’s parliamentary candidate for Nkulumani Constituency, Nkayi North Parliamentary Candidate Collen Mangena, Terence Mkhwananzi and Seji Ncube an affected Pick and Pay employee.
The five were arrested in front of the retail giant where they had gone to inquire if their grievances have been heard. The police’s feared Support Unit pounced on them. It is not yet clear as to where are they currently held.
The party’s youths, and Bulawayo residents are up in arms with the retail giant for exercising tribalism as the management only employs Shona people.
It is alleged that in some cases they frustrate the locals to the point of quieting, or in some cases they terminate their contracts while replacing them with people from outside this region.
