Zodwa Wabantu has been facing financial constraints due to the Covid-19 pandemic lock-down.
She revealed that she has been forced to sell her South Beach flat in Durban, as her pockets are now shallow and she still has to sustain herself.
With many artists failing to score gigs due to the lockdown, which has banned crowds, they are now forced to turn to their other businesses
Zodwa took to social media to share an image of her flat which she said was no longer under her name.
Said Zodwa about the whole incident
“When sh*t hits your pocket you let one of your business go closed.”
Zodwa isn’t the only artist to open up about financial struggles resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Recently rapper AKA revealed that he was down to his last million.
What plan is there in place for the performing arts? Musicians, DJ’s and so forth? …
All these people we call “OG’s” in the music industry are quiet as F* CK with regards to how to lead us during this pandemic. An absolute void of leadership. What is to become of our artists and their livelihoods?”
If we don’t do something serious, the arts will also be a casualty of this pandemic.
Yah well, I’m down to my last million. So yeah I’m panicking.
AKA’s baby mama DJ Zinhle also lamented that big organizations expect artists like her to work with them for free when she hasn’t been working for last 3 months.
With the Covid-19 pandemic not going away anytime soon, it lies to be seen what will happen to the artists.
