Zimbabwe the neighboring country to South Africa is one country which has been facing immense economic challenges from since they gained their independence in 1980.
The country was once one of the most prosperous countries with a very bright future .It was once referred to as the bread basket of Africa.
Back in the day they could produce food to feed the whole of Africa.
Before the country gained independence, even countries like South Africa used to import things from Zim ,and they were far better than SA in terms of infrastructure development and economically.
After their freedom Zimbabwe went from prosperous country with bright future to one of poorest country in Africa .
After freedom , Zimbabweans chased away white people from the country and forcefully took all farms and reclaimed all buildings.
They put in place a corrupt Government which looted money from their citizens , controlled the citizens through police and military power.
From since white people were chased away from the country , very few buildings were built after that , roads were left to decay , manufacturing companies were shut down , people lost their jobs .The country stands at an unemployment rate of 90%.
Most citizens have fled the country for better prospects in other countries. Zimbabwe is the second country in Africa with most citizens living outside the country after Nigeria.
The country is now one of the poorest country in Africa ,and despite being once the bread basket of Africa they now cannot feed themselves , they rely on import.
