The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has released new prices for electricity. There is a subtle increase in prices but there has been an expansion on the lifeline charge.
|Consumption Bands kWh||Price (ZWL$)|
|51 – 200||1.08|
|201 – 300||2.94|
|Consumption Band in kWh||Price per kWh (ZWL$)||Total Price as a first purchase for the month (ZWL$)|
|0 – 50||0.52||26.00|
|51 – 100||1.14||172.00|
|201 – 300||3.12||312.00|
ZETDC announced a new monthly charge for 300 kWh, pegged at ZWL$510.00. This fee seems to be some sort of expansion on their life line fee. So for the first purchase of the month, a household can buy 300 kWh cumulatively for a ZWL$510.00.
The power authority says this the expansion of the life line was motivated by the COVID-19 era we are living in. Their hope is that it makes things a little easier both in price for the consumer and on their systems at the beginning of a new month.
