President Trump on Friday 22 May, ordered the reopening of all places of worship, that is churches, synagogues, and Mosques describing them as essential places that offer essential services.
During a speech delivered to the press from the White House press briefing room the President admonished Governors for allowing the Operations of liquor stores and abortion clinics to operate while restricting access to places of worship.
The president said ” Some governors have deemed liquor stores and abortion clinics as essential, but have left churches and other places of worship. That’s not right.”
In the United States, according to David Knowles of yahoo news, churches have been a hot spot for the coronavirus spread and at least 33 African-American church leaders have died of the COVID-19 disease.
Though the president lacks clear authority over governors in implementing the order he still said that he will override governors as America needed more prayers not less.
Religious leaders were asked to make sure that as worshipers congregate, they are in masks, maintain social distance and that all other safety measures are adhered to.
