I would like to extend my hearty congratulations to the youngest presidential candidate to grace the Zimbabwean political scene Adv. Nelson Chamisa, your charisma and bravado shall forever echo in the history of Zimbabwe. Filling the shoes of the Right Honorable Dr. M. R. Tsvangirai seemed an insurmountable feat yet you stood up to the task and managed to fit them perfectly.
In a short period of time you managed to garner the support of the masses and managed to captivate more than 40% of the populace. After the untimely passing of Mr Morgan Tsvangirai in February you managed to take the baton and lead to a near victory, I urge you to continue to press on and continue to lead the MDC-A with the vigour and tenacity you have. The battle for 2018 might have been lost but the war to develop Zimbabwe and build a better land is a war in which we all fight side by side as compadres and patriots.
We have a battle to get ZiDERA repealled for the sake of the economy and the livelihood of our children. We have a battle to build a SMART economy beyond electioneering. My good advocate and the great Tendai Biti and entire alliance team to you I say Zimbabwe needs you. The 44% who have entrusted you with their vote need change and better economic fortunes. As you carry the war to parliament please remember it is a war against poverty, a war to create jobs and a war to agree to disagree gracefully and productively.
That being said, I would like to make a clarion call on all Zimbabweans, regardless of race, creed, religion or political party to unite…yes for Zimbabwe is still for Zimbabweans irrespective of our differences.
Let us unite towards building our nation…building an inclusive economy and building a new legacy for Zimbabwe. We have had a tumultuous past but let us press on, let us look forward as a united Zimbabwe,as one people as we bake the cake called Zimbabwe…together.
Let us continue to remember that united we stand and divided we fall. This is our country and i can only be built for us and by us and let us remember iwe neni tine basa, I would have said Asante Sana , but I have a final word. This word I direct to Chikara chizukuru chaNehoreka, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa the president elect. Please let bygones be bygones, please carry on without your assignment diligently. Zimbabwe is counting on you to lead a united nation, Zimbabwe is counting on you to tear down the polarization of our people on political lines. Zimbabwe is counting on your mature political wit to reach out to the 44% and those who stood against you in the election. Together under your leadership a prosperous Zimbabwe is attainable.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the election , this was an interesting and competitive race that demonstrated to the whole world that indeed we are a nation of pioneers who are peace loving and law abiding even under tense circumstances.
Long live Zimbabwe and may God bless our land .
