UZ student steal from a pastor
A UZ student was sentenced to 10 months for stealing from an AFM pastor.
Takudzwa Mafigu pleaded guilty when he appeared before the Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa charged with theft.
He was sentenced to ten months, of four months were suspended for five years on condition of good behavior.
Three moments were set aside on condition he plays restitution while three more months were commuted to 105 hours of unpaid work.
The State proved that on September 15 this year, Dr Never Paviri used his standard Chartered Bank debit card and went to his back to his residents.
Mafigu who was staying with the complainant managed to steal the debit card in question and went away.
The accused went on a shopping spree and several other beer outlets. In the process, Mafigu spent money amounting to $2800 from the complainant’s debit card.
The matter came to light when the complainant took a bank statement after noting that his bank card was missing.
He made a police report and investigations were made which led to the arrest of the accused.
