The investigations into the gruesome ritual murder of young Tapiwa Makore (Junior) from Makore Village under Chief Mangwende, in Murehwa, has taken yet another twist.
The police have now arrested another Makore brother, for his alleged involvement in the diabolical murder of his nephew.
ZiMetro.co.zw has learned that the police have now arrested 56-year-old Thanks Makore in connection with the ritual murder of his 7-year-old nephew. Thanks Makore is alleged to have been given the boy’s head and arms after another of the deceased’s uncles, Tapiwa Makore senior and his herdsman Tafadzwa Shamba brutally murdered him and mutilated his body.
According to the Herald, Thanks Makore who stays in Damofalls was apprehended by the police in Harare on Tuesday. He has since appeared before a Mutoko Magistrate facing murder charges. The uncle has since been remanded in custody.
Tapiwa Makore was abducted while he was watching over his family’s garden from thieving monkeys, only for his mutilated corpse to turn up the next day, being ravaged by the Makore neighbours’ oblivious dogs.
A breakthrough emerged in the case, after the cattle herdsmen, Tafadzwa Shamba was arrested in connection with the murder, eventually leading to Tapiwa’s namesake and uncle, as being the mastermind behind the cold-blooded killing.
According to reports, Tapiwa Makore senior killed his nephew because he wanted to increase his wealth and boost his horticulture project using dark magic.
New investigations have since established that Tapiwa Makore senior used an 11-year-old boy to lure his nephew from the garden where he was supposed to be. The boy was given US$5 for his unwitting role and sworn to secrecy. The juvenile passed the money onto his mother who used it to purchase a chicken for the family.
According to the police, the 11-year-old will testify against Tapiwa Makore senior when the trial commences.
