Tuku Delivers ‘Big SURPRISE’ For Macheso’s Wife
The country’s two music maestros Alick Macheso and Oliver Mtukudzi spent some quality time together after Macheso paid a surprise visit at Tuku’s Pakare Paye’s Arts centre.
Although Tuku was skeptical about the presence of journalists flanking Macheso, he quickly relaxed and got down to a chat with the latter.
The two icons mused on piracy and its devastating effects urging the government to intervene in the issue and give it the attention it so rightly deserves.
“Piracy has affected us a lot, these are some of the issues that need proper deliberations and action , we expect those who were elected into office to hear the plight of musicians. Musicians have to enjoy the fruits of their work. The parliamentarians should come up with a solution” said Macheso.
Macheso then toured Tuku’s Arts centre and when when the two men got to a portrait of Dr Thomas Mapfumo they burst into laughter.
“One of a kind, he speaks his mind” Tuku said of Mukanya.
At some point, Macheso paid an improptu visit to Daisy’s (Tuku’s wife) office ,an obviously star struck daisy welcomed Macheso
“Titambira Baba Sharo, matifungawo nhasi. You have done a good thing!”
The biggest surprise arrived during lunch , when Daisy came to the lunch table holding a box.
“It’s a good thing that you came here” she said whilst opening the box. Inside was an accolade inscribed with ‘Pakare Paye Arts Award. A Star Behind A Star, Nyadzisai Macheso‘
“This is for Mai Sharo, we have decided to recognized her for the work she has been doing to keep Macheso’s star shinning”
An awestruck Macheso said he was totally blown away
“I’m humbled, I’m challenged. What you have done goes a long way to all the women out there. I have never seen this before, a musician and his wife to honor another musician’s wife. It’s a first!”
