‘They are not my kids’
A Mabvuku woman has hauled her former husband to court for denying paternity their two children to avoid paying maintenance.
Milton Moyo was arraigned to the maintenance court by his ex-wife Maria Takawira, who demanded $300 for her two children but Milton insisted he was not the father.
Takawira told the court that Moyo was the biological father of her two children and that he should contribute at least $300 every month.
“He is the father of my children because we separated when they were too young.
“Ever since we parted ways, he no longer takes care of his children.
“I want $300 per month for the upkeep of the children because he earns $500 per month,” she said.
In response, Moyo told the court that he was not going to offer anything as he doubted being the father of the two children.
“I am not going to offer any amount because I doubt if I am the father of her two children.
“When we were still together I caught her red handed with her boss in our matrimonial home.
“I even assaulted her since she was having affairs with different men so I am not able to maintain the children,” he said.
Presiding magistrate Nyasha Marufu ordered Moyo to pay $200 per month.
