The government can no longer force COVID-19 patients into quarantine
The government can no longer force anyone into state quarantine. The High Court in Pretoria has ruled that people who can self-isolate at home must be allowed to do so. But if quarantine is broken, they can then be forced into a state facility.
The case was brought by rights group AfriForum, against Cooperative Governance Minister, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. It’s another defeat for lockdown regulations set out by the National Coronavirus Command Council.
