Teachers Unions To Go On Strike Next Week
In what is likely to be another headache for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government teachers have announced that they will be going on strike starting next Tuesday.
The country’s two biggest teachers unions, the Progressive Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) and the Zimbabwe Teachers’ Association (Zimta) have announced that their members will be going on strike starting next week. According to PTUZ secretary-general Raymond Majongwe the two unions have come together “to defend the profession.”
The strike comes a few weeks after the medical doctors ended a debilitating strike that started last year and lasted for 40 days.
