Sikhala’s Daughter Arrested for Not Properly Wearing Mask
The 18-year-old daughter of Zengeza West legislator, Job Sikhala, has been arrested for allegedly not wearing her face mask properly.
Sikhala posted on Twitter this Monday saying Deborah was having a photoshoot when she was arrested. He said:
My 18-year-old daughter Deborah, in blacktop & mask has been arrested by @PoliceZimbabwe at 1400hrs & is detained at St. Mary’s police station. They arrested her when she was having her birthday photoshoot at Huruyadzo. They allege she was not properly putting on her mask. I will fight.
January, the government doubled the penalty of not wearing face masks in the public or breaching Covid-19 restrictions to $1 000 from the previous $500.
In March, the Zimbabwe Republic Police arrested thousands of people for not wearing face masks in violation of COVID-19 regulations.
Wearing face masks is one of the recommended ways of curbing the spread or transmission of the coronavirus. In some countries, wearing a face mask is not considered appropriate for people with some disabilities, physical or mental health conditions.
Other preventive measures include:
Frequently clean hands by applying an alcohol-based hand rub or washing with soap and water.
When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with a flexed elbow or tissue; if used, throw the tissue away immediately and wash hands.
If experiencing a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or any other symptoms suggestive of respiratory illness, including pneumonia, call emergency services before going to the doctor or hospital to prevent the potential spread of the disease.
