Richard Ready opened up before magistrate Noah Gwatidzo at the Harare Civil Court accusing his brother Byron Ready of disturbing his peace at their father’s house in Braeside. Their father is based in Australia.

“Your Worship, my brother is a violent person who always insults, disrespects and accuses me of stealing his property.

“At one point, he reported me to the police saying that I stole his cellphone and tools which I did not.

“Instead, he is the one who always crosses my path.

“When our mother fell ill, I took her to the hospital and my brother punched me in my left eye instructing me not to take our mother to the hospital because he says his church Johanne Marange does not permit them to seek medical help from hospitals.

“I am asking for a protection order and he should stop harassing and fighting me. I want us to stay in peace.”

Byron refuted the allegations saying that he has never insulted or beat his brother; he said Richard was the one who steals from him and disrespects him.

“My brother is disrespectful to me, he steals food that I buy.

“When my wife cleans the house he splashes water, he causes havoc and this results in us fighting all the time.

“I suggested that we have two entrances but he does not want to cooperate.”

Magistrate Gwatidzo granted the protection order in Richard’s favour.
