Rasta BLASTED Over “Mediocre” Oliver Mtukudzi Painting
South African artist Lebani Sirenje, popularly known as Rasta, has been received a lot of backlash for his portrait of late Zimbabwean jazz legend Oliver Mtukudzi.
Rasta has become notorious for his paintings of prominent deceased people, mainly South Africans, which don’t really resemble them at all. When he shared an image of himself painting Oliver Mtukudzi, social media quickly exploded as people told Rasta to stop the painting as it was tantamount to disrespecting the dead.
Some people actually begged Rasta not to start a Mtukudzi painting just after the musician had died as they strongly suspected that Rasta would be inclined to do one. Here are some of the social media.
