Zimbabwean is commemorating the annual Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day holidays next month and the government says preparations are at an advanced stage.
The development was announced by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa following a cabinet meeting on Tuesday. Presenting the 26th post-cabinet briefing, she said:
Cabinet also noted preparations for the 2020 Heroes day commemorations and defence forces day celebrations although there will be no physical gatherings due to Covid-19.
Mutsvangwa also observed that cabinet hah approved the strengthening of the Covid-19 response strategy amid an increase in fatalities and an unexpected surge in local cases.
She also reported that plans were underway to quicken the process of putting in place Rapid Result Test teams to facilitate localised lockdowns in hotspot suburbs in Harare, Bulawayo and Gweru.
