POPULAR BUDIRIRO CLUB NOW CHURCH
Popular Budiriro pub, Club Lashers, is now housing a church.
The now defunct Club Lashers was famous for hosting big entertainment gigs with artistes such as Alick Macheso, and the late Tongai Moyo frequenting the joint for shows.
This could be a blow to some imbibers and musicians but a welcome development for some people in the community as it rids the area of vices such as prostitution, drug and alcohol abuse.
The joint is now under Quickening Spirit International Ministries under the leadership of Prophet Lazarus Mashavave.
The prophet is popular for healing addictions such as alcohol, smoking and drugs, vices which were mainly associated with the joint.
He also made headlines for helping tobacco farmers who were losing out their earning to thigh vendors and several miracles using a horn.
Sources in the church told H-Metro that the church signed a long term contract that will see them at the venue for the next five years.
This seems to be a trend nowadays where local authorities’ beerhalls in high density suburbs have been converted either into schools or churches but a first for a joint such as the former Club Lashers.
Prophet Mashavave said some people who used to visit the place for beers and other things have been converted and now coming for worship.
“It is encouraging to see the people who used to come at the club for beers and other things now coming for prayers. This place is no longer the same, now a life changing place. This used to be their place for drinking but it is now for saving souls,” said Prophet Mashavave.
Prophet Mashavave said they will be holding five day conference starting today until Sunday aimed at what he termed breaking generational curses. He said it is open to everyone.
“We are hosting a revival conference starting Wednesday up to Sunday under the theme Bloodline Curses conference. This is a must attend conference for everyone as we will be delivering people from generational curses which have been hindering them in their lives,” he said.
“We are not stopping in our journey to converting people to Jesus. Every Sunday we are having an opportunity of interacting and praying for some imbibers who will be at the Budiriro 1 shopping centre and some are coming to Christ so we will not stop,” he said.
