ONE of the urban grooves genre pioneers, Nox Guni, on Wednesday dropped his latest offering that promises to rock the airwaves for a while to come.

“Without Tyfah I will be nothing,” admitted Nox in an emotional tribute.

Aptly titled African Royalty, the 12-track album features songs such as Unobvuma Here, Stay With Me, Mapapiro, Feel Alright, Chete, One Life, Papi and Why Why Why among others. It has number of other artists featured such as the respected DJ Tira from South Africa, Gemma Griffiths, Zanda Zakuza and Freeman.

This year has been one of the greatest for Nox who has been nominated in three categories at the prestigious African Social Entertainment Awards (ASEA). The awards are not only for Zimbabweans but select nominees across Africa.

His Unobvuma Here video has been nominated for Best Video while he is nominated for Afro Beat Artist of The Year. He is up for another gong for Best Song Collaboration for his Stay With Me track with DJ Tira. Voting is done via SMS and online via the organisers’ website.

“This year has been great and we have been working so hard and I am satisfied with our output. I owe this to all my fans who have been with me since the early days of songs such as Maria. I also want to thank guys like Freeman, Cymplex and Levels of Chillspot who took part in this project,” said Nox.

To add icing to the cake Nox struck a deal with funeral and financial services provider Diaspora Insurance who have vowed to support him in current and future projects.

“While funeral insurance and financial services is our forte, as Diaspora Insurance we also want to see our artists thriving and succeeding. We are therefore pleased to partner with Nox in his endeavors for current and future projects,” said the company’s country manager in South Africa George Gondo at the album launch.

Socialite and hostess on the night, Miss Pryde, treated special guests to eats and champagne that flowed on the night. A number of Jozi’s entertainment circles managers such as Terry Mbidzo were in attendance to support the event.

Invited guests had to bid to get a copy of the first CD which went to the highest bidder for a cool R6 600.

“We hope our fans will like our project and it is already available on major online music retailers. We have done videos for all the songs and they will be dropping soon as we are in final edit. I will forever be grateful for the support that I get always,” quipped Nox.
