Newly Weds & Guests forced to spend night in stadium for violating covid-19 rules

Rwanda | Police stormed a wedding and forced a newly wedded couple and their guests to spend a wedding night in a stadium for violating covid-19 rules.

While many viewed the punishment as harsh and inhumane, others also applauded the police for handing them a befitting punishment as the event could be classified as a super spreader.

The world is in crisis with the deadly virus, with some countries USA to be precise hinting at a fourth wave which is described as worse than the second wave and South African variant which has struck the African region.

“What appears to be a fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has struck Michigan, the New York region and New England, and experts are uncertain if it will remain contained.”

 Rwanda recorded one hundred and seventy-night (179) new COVID-19 cases out of 5266 samples tested today (07 April 2021).

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases twenty-three thousand, and forty-one (23041).

To date, twenty thousand, eight hundred, and thirty-five (20835) patients have recovered, including one hundred and thirty (130) in the past 24 hours.

The number of active cases is one thousand, eight hundred, and ninety-two (1892) and three hundred and fourteen (314) deaths.

The new cases are in Huye (62), Nyamagabe (46), Gisagara (14), Kigali City (13), Rusizi (8),Nyaruguru (6), Ngoma (6), Bugesera (6), Gakenke (6), Rwamagana (3), Ngororero (2), Ruhango (2), Rubavu (2), Rulindo (1), Nyanza (1), Muhanga (1), and Karongi (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere.

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing.

In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds. Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
