Mutodi Brews Another Shocker
Controversial Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity & Broadcasting Services has quite the skill when it comes to courting controversy and saying things that do not seem well thought out.
The Deputy Minister has claimed that the government did not evict the victims of Cyclone Idai from the low lying areas because it would have resulted in the authorities being falsely accused of human rights abuses.
Writing on Twitter, Mutodi said,
The attention-seeking opposition MDC-Chamisa is complaining that government should ’ve earlier on evicted people from low lying areas affected by Cyclone Idai but we are sure they would have complained bitterly citing human rights abuses and called for more sanctions if we did that.
Evacuations would do for those who complied but in this case, it would’ve been eviction as villagers would resist to move. The exercise would have required the police & the army to use minimum force & as usual, there were going to be fake rape, torture & abduction claims.
