MURDER OVER RAZOR | Menshevicks Moyo (24) a cellphone vendor in Zvishavane mining town was murdered in cold blood on Sunday afternoon over a razorblade at Edgars Stores .
Zvishavane police have already picked up Decend Matayaya on allegations of murder.Matayaya appeared in court on Tuesday facing allegations of murder and he was remanded in custody.According to his best friend Hilary Ndlovu,Moyo was on his way to watch the soccer match pitting Zvishavane and ZPC Kariba and he wanted to collect his friend Ndlovu who also sales his wares in the mining town at Edgars shop.
Moyo was a staunch Shabanie Mine fan.“The accused Matataya wanted to put a screen guard on one of his customer’s phones and he just rushed to pick a razorblade that was on sale from Matayaya’s wares.
“My friend Menshavicks then advised him not to take people’s wares without paying. He then rushed the now deceased and lifted him up before throwing him on the floor.“He then took a knife from his trousers and stabbed him once on the ribs. When we rushed to separate the two we managed to lift our friend and he only stood for five seconds before he was powerless.
“I rushed to hire a taxi to take him to the police to file a report so that we could take him to the hospital but I think that he was already dead by the time we arrived at the police,” said Ndlovu
When H Metro arrived at Moyo’s house mourners were gathered waiting for his body to arrive from Bulawayo where it had been taken for post mortem.
“I can confirm that my son was stabbed and I want the law to take its course. We are hurt with the loss and the murderer is not even remorseful.
“He was the third born in a family of four. My appeal is for the police to arrest people who move with knives, machetes in Zvishavane but it seems they are failing because most of them are friends to the murderers.
“At the police station we were surprised that one female officer was even defending Maphosa and even threatened to arrest our family members. When we are done with the burial we are going to complain to her superiors.
“Maphosa is even boasting and he was even laughing at us. How are we supposed to feel as a family?” said Exhibit Moyo the father to the deceased.
Moyo will be buried at Zvishavane Cemetery this morning.
