MUGABE HOLIDAY IS AN INSULT :WIWA
Fresh from the momentous celebrations few days ago, the Zimbabwean population is finding itself in the perpetuation of the system we all celebrate for its downfall.
We have got our dear fathers and mothers whose dates of birth are so dear to our hearts, which we celebrate. For all of us to be forced to celebrate the 21st of February as the day of honour because one Robert Mugabe was born on this date is reminding us of the sad past.
It is the perpetuation of the past that has become so nauseating that the people of Zimbabwe are taken for fools.
With all gross human rights abuses from Gukurahundi up to present, it is an insult to
tell us that whatever the 21st of February is a public holiday to commemorate the date of the birth of one Robert Mugabe.
Why should we celebrate his birthday and stop all business to be reminded of his ruthless regime. Does it mean to say that we are continuing with his legacy of repression and extermination of opponents as these are the characteristics of his legacy.
Making 21st February a Public holiday means that the Mugabe legacy and all its system is still alive. The democratic project must be intensified dear Zimbabweans.
We can’t continue during this time and generation to celebrate evil. We need to be totally free in a truly democratic society.
