Mpofu wants Sibanda to stay
Highlanders coach Mandla Mpofu is adamant goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda is not leaving the club and is part of his plans.
Sibanda recently announced, in a social media post, that he has parted ways with Bosso, ending his 13-year stay at the club.
In an interview with H-Metro Sport yesterday, Mpofu was optimistic that the Bosso skipper will stay.
“I have known Sibanda for a long time. He is very professional on and off the field. He is still in our plans and I have not had a single moment to entertain such social media claims. His level of commitment is unquestionable and we uphold the energy he brings to squad,” said Mpofu.
The Bosso coach insinuated that Sibanda’s Facebook account might have been hacked.
“I am of the view that someone hacked his Facebook account and posted that message.
“He has been in football long time enough to respect the protocol if it was him who posted the message. As for now we have not heard any verbal word from him. Someone tempered with his Facebook account. We have not received any official request from him asking to leave,” said Mpofu.
He added that even if Sibanda decides to leave, he will convince him to stay.
