Ministers Chinamasa & Gumbo release statement on new Zim Airways plane
The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) has ha taken the delivery of a Boeing 777 plane acquired under from Malaysia.
Ministers Joram Gumbo and Patrick Chinamsa have released a joint statement on the planes. The planes were bought by govt and are being leased out, including to Zim Airways. Air Zimbabwe will not run them.
They don’t specifically say who owns Zim Airways, but it is believed govt owns the company
Speaking after the delivery of the first Zim Airways plane, Finance Min Chinamasa said:
“I’m here to categorically state that this plane is the property of the Republic of Zimbabwe and not the former First Family”
Chinamasa also mentioned that three more planes are to be delivered, including an Embraer. He says the whole deal is worth $70m.
