Two Glendale men were reported to have eaten a stray baboon killed in the community on Friday. John Vashico and another man, only identified as Hafe, are said to have begged residents for the baboon which was killed after it was spotted moving around the neighborhood.
Youths chased the baboon and it first sought refuge at one of the houses. Residents attacked it and pursued it until they killed it.
“The baboon was proudly walking along the streets and we feared for our lives. That is why we decided to kill it,” said one of the residents.
“It found refuge in a tree and we used catapults, stones and knobkerries to kill it. “We had no other intentions after killing but to display it in the community for fun before two men pleaded with us to take it for a meal.
“Mumwe wacho anonzi Vashico namudhara Hafe ndivo vazogovana nyama yacho hanzi chiwoko chegudo chakapfumbatiswa domasi chinonaka.
“People had an argument on whether baboons are food for people and some said its palms are a delicacy especially when roasted,” said the res-ident.
A video of the baboon leaving one of the houses while the community ran after it is circulating on smartphones in Glendale.
Vashico once grabbed headlines for claiming to be Tocky Vibes’ father accusing the chanter of neglecting him. It however, turned out that Vashico was lying.
