Meet The Zimbabwean Who Plays For The Golden State Road Warriors
Munyaradzi Mahiya is a Zimbabwean basketball player who plays for the Golden State Road Warriors Wheelchair team as a forward.
The Road Warriors are one of the premier teams in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA). The team was affiliated with the current NBA Champions the Golden State Warriors in the early 90’s and became the official wheelchair basketball team of the Warriors.
Munya lost his leg after he developed bone cancer when he was 15 years old. Despite losing his leg, he was able to finish his High School education.
He was later awarded a MasterCard Foundation Scholarship which allowed him to pursue an undergraduate degree in political science at the University of California, Berkeley.
