MDC-A Official Molested By A Police Officer And Arrested – Report
MDC Alliance women’s assembly national secretary for mobilisation Vongai Tome was on Tuesday detained at Harare Central Police station after she was allegedly s_xually molested by a police officer.
According to the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, Tome was s_xually molested by a police officer at Harare Magistrate Court during MDC Alliance activist Makomborero Haruzivishe’s court appearance.
She was arrested for disorderly conduct and violating COVID-19 regulations. The Forum said in a statement:
Police at Harare Central Police station on 6 April 2021 detained a woman who was s_xually molested by a police officer at Harare Magistrates Court during MDC Alliance activist Makomborero Haruzivishe’s court appearance.
The woman, Vongai Tome, now faces charges of disorderly conduct and violating COVID-19 regulations.
She is expected to appear in court on 8 April. She is being represented by lawyers from the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum.
ZiMetro News has also learned that a GLEN VIEW landlady on Saturday removed doors and roofing sheets from her house to force defaulting tenants to pay rentals.
The incident left four children sleeping in the open as the landlady demanded that the child’s mother pay up.
Two sisters, only identified as Tsitsi and Mai Chelsea, confirmed their failure to pay rent arguing that Covid-19 negatively affected their sources of income.
