Mapostori Walking On Red Hot Coals
Members of an apostolic sect recently floored watchers and congregants by walking on red hot coals whilst singing gospels songs with such gusto.
The garment clad members took turns each running upon the sweltering coals without breaking a sweat or yelling out in pain. The act is called ‘firewalking’ and has been in practice since 1200 BC. It is often used as a rite of passage, as a test of an individual’s strength and courage, or in religion as a test of one’s faith.
Modern physics has however explained the phenomenon, concluding that the amount of time the foot is in contact with the ground is not enough to induce a burn, combined with the fact that embers are not good conductors of heat.
