A Highfield man was yesterday hauled to court after he reportedly raped his ex-wife before assaulting and stealing from her.
The suspect, Witness Madhuveko was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga.
The court heard that Madhuveko was walking along main Machipisa Street coming from ZRP Machipisa where they had gone for counselling after having a domestic dispute and as they approached Nyandoro Primary School, Madhuveko started to assault the complainant accusing her of infidelity and when she fell down, he carried her to a nearby house and raped her without protection.
After the act, he remained at the scene until she regained consciousness then he started assaulting her again accusing her of having s..ex..ual relations with other men before they later went to Zororo Highfield shebeen where they spent the night.
In the morning, Madhuveko hired a taxi which took the complainant home and on the way she told her sister about the incident then filed a police report on October 6.
He also took her cell phone without her permission.
