Man Drowns In Bathtub In Mysterious Circumstances
In a sad and shocking development, a 58-year-old man from Bulawayo’s Pelandaba suburb is reported to have died after drowning in a bathtub in unclear circumstances.
The Chronicle reports that the death happened after John Siwela who stayed with his two daughters, got up to do laundry in the middle of the night after he had seen a fake water shedding message on social media.
However, it is not yet clear how he drowned in the tub, although some suspect that he may have suffered a fit of epilepsy while doing the laundry.
Acting Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube told the Chronicle,
I can confirm that we are investigating a sudden death case involving a 58-year-old man from Pelandaba. He was found dead in his tub at home and it is alleged that he drowned while doing laundry.
A neighbour told The Chronicle,
We read message circulating on WhatsApp last week about proposed water shedding which was going to affect us for more than three days.
Our neighbour is hard working and a single parent decided that he would do the family laundry early morning before the water shedding.
He woke up to wash their clothes and we strongly suspect that he had an attack and there was no one to help him. He then fell headlong into the tub and drowned.
