Khupe Deputy Hails Police Brutality On MDC Alliance Supporters

“Obert Gutu Is A Bitter Man”

An opposition leader in Zimbabwe has defended police brutality against MDC Alliance supporters saying it was necessary since they were dealing with a violent organization.

“Obert Gutu Is A Bitter Man”

Obert Chaurura Gutu, Vice President of the opposition MDC led by Dr Thokozani Khupe was speaking after the police violently dispersed MDC supporters and reporters who were gathered at Morgan Tsvangirai House where MDC-A leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa was delivering his Hope of The Nation Address this Wednesday. Posting on Twitter, Gutu said:

“What do you expect the Police to do when they’re dealing with a renegade, violent, terrorist organisation? Do you expect the Police to fold their arms & watch as violent hooligans run amok?

“Come on! Give us a break!”

Gutu used to be the spokesperson of the MDC during the time of the late founding father of the party, former Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai.

The legal expert who has been accused of being a Zanu PF agent resigned from the party citing intraparty violence and he joined the MDC-T led by Khupe which also came out of power wrangles within the party which became apparent immediately before the death of Tsvangirai.

The MDC’s party leadership case is at the courts.
