Thousands of South Africans woke up to the trending news that Itumeleng Khune ‘signed for Orlando Pirates’ but here’s why Kaizer Chiefs fans have nothing to worry about.
He is and has been one of Mzansi’s best goalkeepers over the last decade, so it is understandable that Chiefs shot-stopper Itumeleng Khune has the ability to cause a stir on the internet.
That is exactly what happened on Tuesday evening when the Twitter night brigade started the #KhunesignsforPirates hashtage, leaving everyone confused.
The train of thought behind it was to come up with the most ridiculous reasons describing why the 32-year-old would want to switch his allegiance and make the switch to the Soweto rivals.
One tweet hilariously read, “Khune says he felt betrayed by Akpeyi because he managed to save penalties more than him. He says he taught Akpeyi how to service the ball but Akpeyi now does it more than the master. So he doesn’t want any bad blood, that’s why he is leaving.”
Check out some of the other tweets that left Mzansi dazed:
