Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat has downplayed his delay in moving to Europe as he insists his focus remains on team success rather than individual glory.

Billiat surprised many when he opted for a free transfer to Amakhosi at the start of the season, over reported offers from Egypt and Europe.

The 28-year-old star has since justified his decision however, having played a highly influential role in Giovanni Solinas’s side by contributing with goals and assists.

Speaking after recently claiming the Absa Premiership Player of the Month award for September, Billiat, defended that his time for a move abroad will come at the “right time”.

“I think every player wants to play in Europe, in my opinion, and that can only happen if you’re doing great,” said Billiat.

“I don’t think I’ve done enough. I always wanted to do better and improve my game and I’ll wait, because God’s time is the best.

“If I haven’t been there it means it’s not the right time for me, so I’ll wait until the right time comes.”

One way of perhaps raising his profile to catch the attention of overseas scouts would possibly be to take home some individual awards at the end of the season; however, the Zimbabwean talisman insists his focus is firmly on contributing firstly to Chiefs’ success.

“Nah, I want to the team to do better, I want the team to win. As long as the team does better, I’m fine. As long as I’m contributing for the team to do better, the rest will follow,” he stated.
