Jameson Mukombwe promises to improve
Black Rhinos returning right back Jameson Mukombwe said he is going to up his game in 2019.
Mukombwe, who was on a one year loan to FC Platinum in the 2018 season, said he did not live up to his potential last season.
The 28-years-old is positive he will change the script in the upcoming season set to kick off this weekend.
“Last season, when I switched to FC, I got too excited and that was it, I never really lived up to my full potential.
“Yes the injury also affected my plan. That is all in the past now and now it’s time to work hard and get the grove back.
“I am going to make things right this season. I am positive with more hard work, discipline and more efforts I can do better than what I did last season,” said Mukombwe.
Mukombwe said he is targeting to also make it in the National team.
“I know what I have to do, to be that Mukombwe I was back then before I lost form.
“I will work extra hard so that I achieve all my set goals. The main goal is to be part of the team that will be in Egypt for AFCON.
“I also want to be on the calendar. I have been quiet and I think this is the year that I remind people that I am still around,” he added.
Mukombwe said Rhinos will always be his home and there is no better place than home.
The defender said he is impressed with what he is seeing at Rhinos and believes a top three finish by mid-season break is achievable.
“This time around, the team is stronger than ever. We have enough seasoned players, we have talent.
“The new signings are impressive. We are definitely going to make a lot of trouble in the upcoming season.
“We will try and force a top three finish by mid-season and then we will do our best to push upwards in the second half of the season,” he said.
