It Will Be a Sad Scenario to Play Without Fans,” says Ndiraya
Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya reckons that it will be a sad scenario for premier league football to return to empty stadiums.
Local football was suspended over a year ago when the coronavirus hit the country and plans are underway for football to return, albeit without fans in stadiums.
Yesterday Dynamos officials, led by their board chairman Bernard Marriot, the executive members and technical staff, underwent COVID-19 tests and also took the vaccination at Wilkins Infectious Diseases Hospital in Harare.
Speaking to The Herald on Friday, Ndiraya said he was excited by the imminent return of football but it was going to be difficult to play in empty stadiums. Said Ndiraya:
It’s going to be really difficult, we are used to our fans, we are used to being pushed by our fans.
However, this is the situation we find ourselves in, we just have to soldier on, without our fans.
It’s really going to be a sad scenario but what can we do?
This is Covid-19 we are talking about, it a deadly animal, so we just have to comply.
But, it’s going to be difficult.
It’s unfortunate that the new players, we have brought in, are really going to start their business at Dynamos, without the fans, and that is really going to be difficult for them.
I can imagine the time they will then play before our multitude of fans, the atmosphere is quite different, so, it’s unfortunate but this is Dynamos.
DeMbare recently announced the signing of five players, who include Trevor Mavhunga, Frank Makarati, Tinashe Makanda, Newman Sianchali and Luke Musikiri.
