Increase Fuel To $4.39/Litre Or Fire Mangudya & His Bond Notes
Former Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Terence Mukupe has called on the government to deal with the fuel crisis saying that it was now unsustainable.
According to the former deputy minister, the price of fuel should go up to $4.39 per litre to remove the pricing distortions created by the government insisting that the bond note is at par with the United States Dollar.
As an alternative to increasing the price of the fuel, Mukupe called for the government to remove the bond notes and to fire Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor John Mangudya so that Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube will be allowed to work on fixing the country’s economic issues. Writing on Twitter, Mukupe said,
The current fuel supply chain is unsustainable. My take is we either need to raise the price of fuel to $4.39 or abandon the bond together with the governor and allow Prof (Finance Minister Ncube) Mthuli space to flourish.
However, the former minister, later on, deleted his Twitter account and not just a particular post.
