I’m ready to help Selmor: Macheso

ALICK Macheso says he is ready to work with Selmor Mtukudzi or any of her siblings who require his expertise.

Selmor, who is touted as the heir to the Tuku Music throne, has been praised for her creative edge before and even after her iconic and legendary father Oliver’s death.

And a month after Tuku’s death, Selmor has been working hard to revive her father’s legacy.

One of the first steps she has taken is roping some of the long-serving Black Spirits members who worked with her late father.

Following all debate on who should fill Tuku’s big shoes, Selmor has been tipped to go far.

As such, Macheso who is known for giving hope mentoring sons and daughters of legends, said he was ready to take Selmor on board.

“When I was growing up, there are so many people who helped me to be where I am.

“Once such a person who used to give me guidance is Tuku even though we pursued different genres.

“If Selmor or any of her siblings want my expertise, I will still help them.

“I know Selmor as a talented artiste and if she wants a show with us, she is free to come and work with me.

“My management can also meet hers and we will then work on something be it a family show or any other gig,” said Macheso on the side-lines of his family show held at Las Vegas in Southerton.

Maches urged Selmor and her siblings to be strong and move on.

“I know Selmor and her siblings miss Tuku but I urge them to be strong and find comfort in the Lord.

“I’m also hurt but I have to accept the reality that baba Tuku is no more.

“Of late, I have been playing some of Tuku’s cover versions during live shows because we are celebrating the life of a legend.

“I also urge the family to be united and find comfort from the Lord God.

“As they say, rufu imbavha, takabirwa asi ndinoti ngaticheme tine tariro,” added the UK bound Macheso who is set to perform in the Queendom this weekend.

Macheso, who is set to hold his home-coming show after the UK sojourn, said his handlers were also planning a gig with Selmor if they agree in terms.

Being one of the father-figures in showbiz with the talent to teach, nurture and groom young artistes, Selmor could be in line to benefit from Macheso’s gesture.
