Highlanders coach says they are in a difficult situation!
Highlanders coach Mandla Mpofu says they are in a difficult situation as only 20 players are eligible to play ahead of the return of football this Saturday.
A number of Bosso players, including Peter Muduhwa and Joel Ngodzo, are yet to get clearance and are likely going to miss the first match of the Chibuku Super Cup.
The Bulawayo giants are in Group Two together with Chicken Inn, Bulawayo Chiefs and Bulawayo City with their first
game is expected on Saturday.
“We are having a serious crisis, it is going to be difficult for us to perform well in the tournament considering that we
only have twenty players including three goalkeepers who are ready and legit to play this weekend.
“We only have one junior player. All of our new signings are not participating, they have not received their international clearances. Peter Muduhwa, Joel Ngodzo, Rody Sibanda, Linox Chikuhwa and Keith Mavhunga are the players who are not cleared to play at the forthcoming mini league tournament.
“It is a big blow because we do not have any replacements. All the international players are said expecting their clearances on the first of July and obviously it is unbearable to the Highlanders family,” said Mpofu.
One of the affected players, Ngodzo pleaded with those responsible with issuing clearances to move with speed as it can have long term effects to the club.
“I am really hurt that I cannot play, my job is to play and give my all to this family.
“I hope this dilemma will be solved immediately. I wish all the best to those who are going to play and I hope they will represent us well,” said Ngodzo.
