High Court Orders Chamisa’s Exit from CCC’s Bulawayo Offices

Nelson Chamisa Has Quit Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)

The High Court’s Bulawayoz has ruled in favor of Sengezo Tshabangu, representing a faction of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), granting an application to oust Nelson Chamisa and his alleged supporters from the CCC’s Bulawayo office.

According to a report by CITE, High Court Judge Justice David Mangota stated that despite Nelson Chamisa not being physically present in Bulawayo, he is evidently linked to those who forcibly occupied the CCC provincial party house. Justice Mangota emphasized that Chamisa could have utilized modern technology to orchestrate the takeover.

The ruling follows CCC’s urgent court application alleging that Chamisa, the former CCC leader, unlawfully seized control of CCC property through intermediaries. CCC claimed that individuals aligned with Chamisa repainted the property and displayed his portrait.

Chamisa contested the application, denying involvement in the property’s takeover and asserting that he hadn’t visited it since resigning from CCC. However, Justice Mangota noted that neither Chamisa nor his alleged associates disputed the repainting of the property.

Consequently, the judge sided with CCC and Sengezo Tshabangu, concluding that those responsible for the property’s takeover were acting under Chamisa’s direction. The court ordered in favor of CCC, with each party bearing its own costs.

Chamisa parted ways with the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in January 2024, citing government interference and alleged manipulation by the ruling ZANU-PF party. He accused ZANU-PF of subverting the CCC’s original objectives and accused them of effectively transferring control of the party to the ruling party.
