Sibongile Mapuranga bared all at the Harare Magistrate court where she sought an upward variation of maintenance from her ex-husband Tineyi Murondedzero.

She wanted it varied from $140 to $500 for the upkeep of their three children.

“In 2017, I made a very big mistake of my life, when I had another child with him.

“I got very excited after he bought me a car,” said Mapuranga

“Your worship, in 2017 I applied for maintenance for other two children that I have with him.

“He was struggling to perform his fatherly duties, it’s not because he cannot afford but he was not consistent in honoring his responsibilities.

“Now that we have three children, I’m applying for a top up of the maintenance for the upkeep of our third child,” she added.

Murondedzero, however, said $360 top up was beyond reach for him since he had other responsibilities and nothing had changed on his income.

“Your worship I realize between $450-$500 per month.

“Nothing has changed in terms of my financial income such that I find no reason to top up the maintenance that I have been paying all along.”

Presiding magistrate Gladys Moyo ordered Murombedzi to pay a monthly sum of $220 to Mapuranga.
