GRANDPA MAKES FIRST PUBLIC APPEARANCE | The president of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe has made his first public appearance since the takeover by the military.
Mugabe, who also happens to be the Chancellor of several state owned Universities showed up unscathed at the occasion despite being under house arrest by the army.
Yesterday Mugabe held talks with the army generals and SADC envoys and there were talks of him possibly resigning from power but the talks were stalled as nothing was signed yet. Speculation are Mugabe refused to step down and played the constitution card at the army generals, also several disputes ensued about who would be his successor if he steps down.
The army is in favor of ousted Emmerson Mnangagwa while it was rumored that Mugabe refused to readmit Mnangagwa and handpicked Sekeramayi as his successor.
It appears the army have lived up to their promise that this was not a coup as Mugabe is free to perform his presidential duties.
