Govt to pay Civil Servants US$75 non-taxable Allowance per month

Government of Zimbabwe has increased civil servant’s salaries by 50% and US dollar allowance with immediate effect in a move meant to curb protests.

This was confirmed by Nick Mangwana, Permanent Secretary of Information and Publicity.

“With immediate, ALL Civil servants salaries will be adjusted upwards by 50%. Additionally; all Civil Servants to be paid a flat non-taxable Covid19 Allowance US$75 per month -All Government Pensioners to be paid a Covid19 Allowance US$30”.

This comes at a good time as witnessed by protests that took place in Harare today at Parirenyatwa hospital by nurses complaining of meagre salaries.

“Pursuant to government’s commitment to continuously review and improve the remuneration framework of civil servants, taking into account the transitory challenges being currently experienced in the country, which have been exacerbated by the covid-19 pandemic government”, decides to make adjustments, part of government’s report states.
