Fresh charges for Chivayo
Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo was yesterday dragged to court facing fresh charges of bribery.
Chivayo appeared before Harare magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa representing his company Intratek as well as on his own behalf.
Intratek Zimbabwe was represented by Advocate Sylvester Hashiti while Chivayo was represented by Advocate Lewis Uriri.
The State led by Micheal Reza told that court that on January 21 CBZ Bank, Chivayo and his company Intratek transferred $10 000 as a reward to Stanley Kazhanje for showing favour to Intratek by influencing the ZPC board to make favourable decisions towards them even where such decisions were not due to them in connection with the Gwanda Solar project.
After payment of the $10 000, Kazhanje later influenced ZPC board to pass resolutions in favor of Chivayo and Intratek even though they were breaching their contract.
Chivayo was released on bail conditions on his other record.
The conditions were to deposit $2000 bail, reside at his given address in Borrowdale, that he surrenders tittle deeds, reports every Friday and commercial crimes division and doesn’t interfere with State witnesses.
The matter was remanded to March 28 March for trial.
