Four perish, 12 injured in a head-on collision outside Beitbridge town

Four people, including two minors, were killed yesterday when two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision eight kilometres outside Beitbridge town along the Masvingo-Harare Highway.

The accident occurred at around 7pm.

Those who died were in a Toyota Wish that was travelling towards Masvingo, while the majority of the injured were travelling in a Nissan Elgrand that was driving towards Beitbridge.

Police were by last night still conducting investigations and transporting the injured to Beitbridge Hospital.

Beitbridge District Civil Protection Unit representative who attended the scene, Mr Jahson Mugodzwa, said they were yet to get a full report from the police and health officials.

When our news crew arrived at the scene, emergency workers were still trying to retrieve the remains of a man and a woman that were trapped under the wreckage.

All the injured, who incurred mostly leg injuries, were admitted at Beitbridge District Hospital.
