Family, Friends Remember Zororo Makamba

Nurse Who First Treated Zororo Makamba Now Unwell And In Isolation

Zororo Makamba’s family and friends remembered the late media personality who succumbed to Covid-19 on the 23rd of March last year.

In remembrance of Zororo Makamba, his family and friends over the weekend dedicated the entire week to the late broadcaster who was the first person in the country to die of Covid-19.

In fliers posted on social media by Zororo’s friends under #ZororoForever, they urged people to either release a white or green balloon in memory of Zororo or plant a tree in memory of him between 21 and 28 March 2021.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Zimbabwe marked a year since the first COVID-19 case was reported in the country.

The first reported case on March 20, 2020, was that of a resident of the resort city of Victoria Falls, who had earlier traveled to the United Kingdom on a business trip and only showed symptoms a few days after his return.

Three days later, the pandemic claimed the life of media personality Zororo Makamba, whose burial a day later brought shivers among many people as it took place soon after the death and with very few people in attendance.

Makamba, who was the second person to test positive locally, had just arrived back in Zimbabwe from a visit to the United States.
