Eight Perishes in Mazowe South’s SAS Mine Disaster
Police on Friday afternoon retrieved the bodies of a Zimbabwean and six Chinese nationals killed in two oxygen tank explosions at a Chinese-owned SAS mine in Lowdale, Mazowe south.
NewZimbabwe visited the nickel mine plant where the disaster took place.
Local villagers swarmed the mine as they observed police operations and other government officials, including the Environmental Management Agency (EMA), as they carried out their investigations.
Mazowe South legislator, Fortune Chasi, and Zimbabwe National Army from the presidential guard were also present at the scene.
