The $12 million shopping mall complex under construction in Bulawayo’s high-density suburb of Cowdray Park will be named after President Mnangagwa. The complex is being constructed by Sai Enterprises which is owned by Bulawayo South Member of Parliament Cde Raji Modi.

Speaking at Cde Modi’s victory party in Sizinda in Bulawayo yesterday, Zanu-PF Bulawayo provincial secretary for administration Cde Elifasi Mashaba said the complex would be named in honour of the President’s support to business.

“We are involved in a lot of businesses with Cde Modi, we invited the President when he was still the Vice-President to be our guest of honour at the opening of the Liquor Hub and again we called him to officiate at a ground breaking ceremony at Cowdray Park where Cde Modi is building a complex.

The shopping complex will be called Dambudzo Business Complex. We started to work with the President a long time ago,” said Cde Mashaba. The multi-million dollar complex, which is under construction would comprise a main supermarket, over 40 shops, banks, a medical service centre, fast foods outlets and parking bays. Cde Mashaba revealed that President Mnangagwa applauded Cde Modi for winning in Bulawayo South during the July harmonised elections.

“He said there’s only one constituency I will name here that did well during the 2018 harmonised elections and it’s Bulawayo South, this made us happy that we also won in Bulawayo. It’s not a mistake that Cde Modi is a deputy (minister) today, his Excellency saw him as the right candidate, he trusts him and because you are the same people who voted for him again we believe he’s going to deliver.”

Speaking at the same event, Cde Modi, who is also the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce said he was honoured by the support he has received from the people of Bulawayo South.

“I am very honoured and proud to stand before you because without your support I wouldn’t be here, from the first day I came to Zimbabwe in my business career and in my political career you supported me as well. This victory is not mine, it’s for all of us, we are one people all of us can work together, we can do good things.

As we demonstrated last year on 24 November let us be united so as to achieve our goals, the new dispensation, new Zimbabwe, let us support our President to build our country,” he said.
