ED Ally Trashes Dialogue Meeting, Says He Has No Confidence In The Process

A former ally of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and losing presidential candidate during the July 30 Presidential Elections, Daniel Shumba has trashed the meeting to pave way for national dialogue held at the State House yesterday.

According to Shumba, the meeting was made up of many praise seekers who were sucking up to President Emmerson Mnangagwa while the discussions were disappointingly unstructured.

Shumba who contested the presidential elections under the ticket of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) went on to say that he had no confidence at all in the process. Writing on Social Media, Shumba said,

A disappointingly unstructured discussion. No agenda nor outline of the meeting. Moderator was out of his depth. Never seen so many cheerleaders. N. Moyo, N. Manyika, and I spoke to the issues well. I have no confidence in the process.

A porous process without an underwriter or milestones cannot form the basis of a serious National Dialogue. I witnessed amazing and preposterous proposals from some seemingly compromised principals. Am curious to see the draft framework agreement.

I put across very pointed issues of constitutionalism and the rule of law and was candid regarding the repeal of unconstitutional statutes, in particular, the Reconstruction Act. Rape, imprisonment, and the various violations of human rights were some of the issues I raised.

The meeting was snubbed by Nelson Chamisa and Joice Mujuru.
