Dual citizenship for Zimbabweans
Zimbabweans will now be allowed to hold dual citizenship once the Zimbabwe Citizenship Act is aligned with the Constitution and Cabinet also received updates on the rescue operations at Battlefields Mines in Mashonaland West Province.
Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services C.d.e Monica Mutsvangwa announced this to the media after today’s cabinet sitting at Munhumutapa offices in Harare.
An interim committee has been established to oversee the setting up of the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA) which should become operational by the end of the first quarter.
Cabinet was also jointly briefed on the ongoing rescue operations at the Battlefields Mines in Midlands where four miners are still trapped.
The rent-seeking behaviour in the wheat farming and baking industry were exposed after the Minister of Industry and Commerce and Enterprise Development Honourable Mangaliso Ndlovu demonstrated to Cabinet that local wheat is ideal for bread-making contrary to false claims by other industry leaders.
Several projects under the 100-day plan were also unveiled under the Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education and the Transport and Infrastructural Development.
Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube also told the media that the recently launched foreign currency interbank market is operating smoothly and serving the economy well.
